The Vancouver Canucks brought back a familiar face to their roster in 2001 when they traded with the Washington Capitals to bring in former captain Trevor Linden. The team was struggling at the time, but adding Linden helped turn things around as the Canucks went on a three-game win streak and finished second in the Northwest Division with a record of 42-30-7-3. Despite losing in the playoffs to the Detroit Red Wings, who would go on to win the Stanley Cup, Linden's return had a significant impact on the team. In his five seasons back with Vancouver, he recorded 130 points in 374 games and became the first player in franchise history to play 1000 games while scoring 300 goals and recording 700 points.
