Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chairman Jamie R. Harrison and his advisors met with Marathon Digital Holdings' Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Jayson Browder on August 5 to discuss ways to mitigate the environmental impact of Bitcoin mining, according to Browder. He added that they also discussed recent polling data showing an increase in retail and institutional investments in cryptocurrency in the U.S.
The meeting came as signals emerged that Democrats have softened their stances on crypto ahead of a presidential election predicted by some experts to be decided by a narrow margin. The DNC met with Marathon executives, who submitted a list of digital currency policy recommendations to the party earlier this summer. However, the Democratic platform released recently does not mention cryptocurrencies or blockchain networks.
