Dallas Cowboys practice squad: Dalvin Cook headlines finalized group for start of season
The Dallas Cowboys have begun filling out their practice squad. The team has reportedly signed running back Dalvin Cook to the practice squad, as first reported by Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News.

Cook was drafted in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings and played three seasons with the team before being traded to the New York Giants in August 2020. In his career, Cook has rushed for 1,894 yards and 12 touchdowns, while also catching 53 passes for 487 yards and two additional scores.

This addition adds depth to the Cowboys' running back corps, which already includes Ezekiel Elliott, Tony Pollard, and Rico Dowdle on the active roster. The team may have had an opening on the practice squad after cutting running back Darius Anderson earlier this week.

Cook will be joining a Cowboys team that has made significant changes to their coaching staff this offseason, including hiring Mike McCarthy as head coach and Kellen Moore as offensive coordinator. The team is expected to rely heavily on the running game in 2021, with Elliott being one of the key players in the offense.
