Woman gives hockey staffer urgent warning after spotting mark on his neck in middle of game and 'changed his life'

A fan in the stands, noticing a concerning mole on the back of his neck, tried to get Hamilton's attention. When her attempts were unsuccessful, she wrote a message on her phone and pressed it against the plexiglass separating them. The note read: "The mole on the back of your neck is possibly cancerous. Please go see a doctor!"

Hamilton initially disregarded the warning, but his wife noticed the mole's odd shape the following day. A biopsy later revealed malignant melanoma in situ 2, meaning the cancer was only on the outer layer of his skin. Thanks to the fan's vigilance, Hamilton was able to seek treatment and prevent a potentially devastating health issue.

The Vancouver Canucks eventually connected the fan with Hamilton, identifying her as Seattle Kraken fan Nadia Popovici, a 22-year-old who had recognized the irregular mole from her time volunteering in hospitals. As a gesture of gratitude, the team awarded her a scholarship for medical school in the fall.
