Federal Judge Robert Pitman of Texas has rejected a request from conservative group Media Matters for America to dismiss a defamation lawsuit filed by Twitter and Tesla CEO Elon Musk. The lawsuit claims that Media Matters acted with "actual malice" in spreading false information about Musk's social media platform X, which he co-founded. In August, Judge Pitman rejected an attempt by Media Matters to dismiss the complaint, providing momentum for Musk's lawyers to request thousands of pages of internal documents from Media Matters. The judge has also ordered that Media Matters pay for Twitter and Tesla's legal fees over the disclosure request.
